Sandra Moore

Practice Manager

Was appointed Practice Manager at Carterton Medical Centre in 2006. I am immensely proud to be part of the CMC team and our achievements over the years. It is a pleasure to work with caring, innovative health professionals who truly value their community and join with them in their health care needs and management. My husband and I raised our two children (now fully grown) in the Wairarapa, pursuing our family interests of Motocross and equestrian and look forward to a more relaxing time together, now the kids have left home.

Dr Ximena Hunefeldt

General Practitioner

Arriving in 2009 to New Zealand, having previously worked in the UK for 4 years after finishing GP training in Germany.

I am enthusiastic about the improvements people can achieve with the right lifestyle changes, diet, exercise etc.

My special interests are women’s health, diabetes and working in addiction services.

Dr David Heard

General Practitioner

Full time GP at CMC since January 2004, trained at Auckland University graduating 1995. Completed Diploma in Paediatrics and Diploma in Sports Medicine. Since 2009, I have also been employed by the University of Otago as a Regional Coordinator to 5th Year medical students who are based in the Wairarapa for their 5th year medical degree.

My general interests are:

  • Teaching the medical students, our doctors of tomorrow, many of those students spending time at CMC
  • Sports injuries and medicine
  • Paediatrics and children’s health
  • Geriatric medicine, looking after Carter Court Rest Home for the last 10 years
  • All aspects of family medicine – getting to know families over time is the best part of the job

Dr Craig Cherry

General Practitioner

Married with a grown family and one grandchild. I have been practising at CMC for 34 years and remain passionate about family orientated general practice. I particularly enjoy minor surgery, palliative care and paediatrics

I am also enthusiastic about providing Carterton Medical Centre as a teaching practice for young doctors and nurses

Married with 4 adult children I have lived in Carterton for 34 years. My special interests are musculoskeletal medicine and skin disorders. I am also a GP registrar trainer for the Royal College of GP’s.

Nurse Practitioner

My name is Nicole; I am a Nurse Practitioner Primary Health Care across the life span. Nurse Practitioners are able to assess, diagnose, order tests, treat and prescribe medication. I see patients with all types of conditions and of all age groups.

My special interests are Women’s Health, Sexual Health and Youth Health. Youth do not need to have an appointment to see me, they can walk in and ask for me, although there might be a little bit of a wait. I also have two youth clinics at Kuranui College. Due to the variety of different patient groups and age, no two days are the same. This makes my job very interesting.

Tena Koutou Katoa, Greetings to you all
Ko Corina Ngatai toku ingoa, my name is Corina Ngatai.

My nursing journey started in 2007, in 2015 I completed my Masters of Nursing Science and in 2017 became a Nurse Practitioner, Primary Health across the lifespan. My role focuses on acute presentations, complex triages, long term conditions and general consults. I also provide clinical mentorship and support for CMC nurses. I practice both in collaboration with other health professionals and autonomously to promote, prevent and manage your health needs. As a Nurse Practitioner I will always keep, you the patient, firmly at the centre of care. I look forward to meeting whanau as your Maori Health Nurse Practitioner.

My name is Megan and I have recently returned back to the Wairarapa to commence a new journey as a Practice Nurse at Carterton Medical Centre. I have been nursing for the past 3 years at the Children’s Ward within Wellington Hospital.

My passion is child and youth health; however I enjoy all aspects of general practice. An important part of my role is the Immunisation Nurse in which I work closely with families and other health agencies to ensure our children are immunized on time. I am the designated Maori Health Nurse for the practice and am here to support and provide a full range of services for you and your whanau. I am looking forward to meeting you all and assisting with your health care needs

My name is Wendy. I have joined CMC as a new graduate nurse and I take a special interest in emergency triage and accidents.

Reception and Administration Team

Reception and Administration Team

Our reception team is the friendly face of Carterton Medical Integrated Family Healthcare Centre, they will help you with your queries and appointment bookings.

Tracey, joins us from being receptionist and care giver at a local rest home, so will be a familiar face to many. She looks forward to meeting you.

Jaime, our youngest team member came to us straight from college, her bright bubbly manner will put you at ease at reception.

Karen, is a familiar face at Carterton, she can be found at reception when she is not organising our student doctors.

Jess is our Admin assistant, she can help with account queries and assists the team at reception. Her background in the armed forces and health makes her a capable addition to our team.

Sandy loves to help and is at reception, her calm manner will assist you to enrol and she is our receptionist on our late night, Tuesday.
